Among Xiaomi fans, probably this is one of the most hyped smartphone to be released by the Chinese company – since its predecessors, the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 series are all fan-favorites.
We’re looking on the rumors about the Redmi 5 for a little while now, and since the launch date was already confirmed, probably this is the last time that the Redmi 5 will appear on STS Despatch and will start to appear on the proper Snowtechstuff.com website.
First teasing was done by Xiaomi’s global spokesperson himself, via a Tweet:

Second teasing is through this humorous trailer without any English subtitles
The renders above adhere to the rumors showing the 18:9 screen ratio in front and fingerprint scanner at the back, which is a not-so-surprisingly move for the Redmi, considering that they already have the Redmi Note 4 and 4x like that – just with the screen ratio of the year added.
Specs, Pricing and Availability
Well, its obvious that the Redmi 5 will have either a 5.5 or a 5.7-inch display. It is also rumored to come with the Snapdragon 450 chipset. As usual with the Redmi series, it might come in variants with either 2GB RAM & 16GB storage or 3GB RAM & 32GB storage as well as 4GB RAM & 64GB storage. We can also see a 3200mAh battery inside and is expected to be priced at 699 Yuan (~$105).
While its bigger sibling, the Redmi 5 Plus might get a 6-inch screen sporting higher-resolution display as well as a bigger battery. Also rumored to come with the older Snapdragon 625 chipset instead of the newer Snapdragon 630. It might come in variants like 3GB RAM & 32GB storage as well as 4GB RAM & 64GB storage and to include a large 4000mAh battery. It might be priced at around 999 Yuan (~$150).
Still cheap, right?
Both smartphones are also rumored to have 12-megapixel ‘SINGLE’ rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Software-base, it is also speculated to come with the MIUI 9, which is based on Android Nougat.
Although didn’t specified, what’s certain is that the Redmi 5 series might come with four different colors: black, blue, gold, and pink.
Now what do you think of Xiaomi’s next release? Will it make into your pocket? Or nah?
We’ll know the rest on its December 7th unveiling, so stay tuned!
