Samsung takes over the crowd at Barcelona with a special event before the biggest mobile tech event officially starts tomorrow with its announcement of the new flagship smartphones its going to pair against other competitors’ announcements – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

Numerous leaks prior to the official announcement has shown that the new devices mostly retain the same design language of the Galaxy S8, and that was actually confirmed today. While this seemed to be not-so-innovative, there are notable noticeable design changes (mostly seen at the back of the devices) such as a re-positioned fingerprint reader and a dual camera setup, which is exclusive to the Galaxy S9+.

As its previous teaser says “Camera, Reimagined’, the Galaxy S9 series focuses mainly on camera improvements with some incremental spec upgrades that comes by the incremental number upgrade. The new cameras are equipped with a Super Speed Dual Pixel sensor that can combine up to 12 frames into one high-quality image.

The Galaxy S9 series also boasts a dual aperture (f/2.4 and f/1.5) lens for improved low-light performance, Super Slow-mo video capabilities, and AR-powered Emoji, which we will share with you soon on how it works. With these specs, the devices will have the flexibility to take photos and videos in different lighting situations.

The new devices, as with incremental model numbers, also come with the usual spec upgrades. The table below lists the official specs for the said devices. (table retrieved from SamMobile).
